
Doug
Williams
|
Doug Williams is entering his 10th year as the head baseball coach
for the College of San Mateo (CSM) Bulldogs. His teams have averaged
31 wins per year. Doug’s overall record is 322- 136. This
outstanding record, along with seven State playoff appearances,
has garnered him four Coast Conference Coach of the Year awards.
One of Doug’s most significant accomplishments at CSM is
that 118 of 124 past CSM players have either transferred to a
four year school or been drafted into professional baseball.
Doug played NCAA Division I baseball and graduated from the University
of California at Santa Barbara. He has a Master’s Degree
in Health and Physical Education with an emphasis in Biomechanics.
His thesis “A Three Dimensional Biomechanical Analysis of
Fastball and Forkball Pitchers” was featured on the front
cover of an issue of Collegiate Baseball Magazine.
Doug is a local product, having played baseball and graduated
from Carlmont High School. He was an assistant coach at the College
of San Mateo under the legendary John Noce. He was the head varsity
baseball coach at Carlmont High School, capturing the Central
Coast Section Division II Title. He then became the pitching coach
at the University of San Francisco before moving to his current
position at CSM. |

Craig Gianinno |
Craig
joins our team as camp director. He graduated from Bellevue
University in Nebraska with a degree in Physical Education.
He is currently employed by Rhythm & Moves which provides
Physical Education programs to over 120 schools in the Bay Area.
His eight years of experience developing and directing various
youth baseball camps is a real plus to Preparing Legends.
During
his playing career, Craig earned All Conference and MVP honors
while playing at City College of San Francisco in 1991. The
following year he transferred to the College of Marin and
was again selected All Conference and played on the Northern
California All Star Classic Team. Craig finished his playing
career as a member of the NAIA College World Series, National
Championship Team, Bellevue University, Nebraska. During this
championship year he was selected All Team and All Conference
Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher.
Craig
was the assistant varsity baseball coach for Sacred Heart
Cathedral in San Francisco from 1998-2000 and an assistant
coach for the College of San Mateo 2000-2002. In addition
to coaching during the 2001-2002 season, Craig was a consultant
to the San Mateo American Little League. Craig has been the
head coach of the Burlingame Colt League baseball team since
2000. The team was Conference Champions in 2001 and 2002 and
the 2002 team qualified for the Western Zone Tournament. Craig
is now the assistant coach for the Burlingame Varsity baseball
team.

Matt Brown |
Matt
brings a wealth of professional and collegiate experience
to our organization. He was a standout catcher and team captain
for the College of San Mateo during the 1988 and 1989 seasons.
Matt received a full scholarship to San Jose State University.
In his junior year he was named Outstanding Defensive Player
of the Year and in June of 1990 was drafted by the Minnesota
Twins. He played five years in the Twins organization before
signing as a free agent with the Boston Red Sox.
At
the conclusion of his playing career Matt returned to college
to continue his education and pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Sociology. He also served as head assistant coach at the
College of San Mateo.
Matt
is currently director of player operations, responsible for
client development and professional services for Professional
Players Management Group Inc. (PPMG). He lives locally with
his wife and daughter.

Norm
Hayes
|
Norm
was the starting catcher for Carlmont High School his sophomore,
junior and senior years where he earned All League honors. After
graduation in 1997, he attended the College of San Mateo, capping
off his very successful career by winning the "Bulldog"
award his sophomore year. Norm continued his education at Santa
Clara University, again having two outstanding seasons as the
starting catcher for the Broncos. Norm graduated with a B.A.
in Communications and is currently enrolled in the Masters/Credentialing
program at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. For the
past two years, Norm has been the head coach of the Carlmont
High School Varsity baseball team and is also an assistant coach
for the Belmont-Redwood Shores Joe DiMaggio summer baseball
team. With Norm's coaching background, experience with youth
summer camps, and love of the game, he is a great addition to
the Preparing Legends staff.

Nate MacBeth
|
Nate
attended Carlmont High School where he pitched and played shortstop
for the Scots. After graduating in 1997, he attended the College
of San Mateo where his focus on pitching garnered him the Most
Improved Player award in 1999. Nate continued his education at
Sonoma State University and was a member of the pitching staff
of the 2001 State Champion Cossacks. He graduated in 2002 with
a B.A. degree in Environmental Studies and Planning and is enrolled
in the Master's/Credentialing program at Notre Dame de Namur University
in Belmont. Nate has spent several summers working as a counselor
for various youth baseball camps. He has been the head coach of
the Carlmont High School Frosh-Soph baseball team for the past
two years.

Brian Vogel |
Brian
played one year at West Valley College before transferring to
San Francisco State University where he earned All-Conference
as well as team MVP awards in his three years of playing for the
Gators. He graduated from SFSU with a degree in Speech and Communications
and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Sports Administration
from St. Mary's College.
After
his playing days were complete, Brian joined the coaching staff
at SFSU where he worked with the outfielders and assisted with
the pitchers. After two years at SFSU, Brian was named Athletic
Academic Coordinator and was responsible for advising the 400
student-athletes on NCAA and University rules and regulations
regarding academic eligibility. During the summer of 2003, Brian
was an assistant coach for the Foster City Colt league baseball
team. He has worked at other sports camps, and brings his experience
with top quality talent to our program. Brian currently coaches
the outfielders as well as the hitters at the College of San Mateo,
joining the Bulldogs
staff for the 2003-04 year.
